Part of January's gardening advice: pruning an apple tree

This months gardening tasks include...


Hoe borders regularly to keep down weeds.


Cut back Daffodils.


Hopefully the frost have passed and it is safe to plant out summer bedding and Dahlias.


Prune early summer flowering shrubs such as Deutzia once flowers are over.


Finish planting vegetable crops such as courgettes and beans.


Feed roses, shrubs and hedges with granular fertilizer.


Trim leaves and flowers of Ornamental Poppies to encourage new growth.


Lightly trim Broom to keep in shape.


Deadhead Roses


Cut old stems from spring flowering Euphorbia, taking care not to get the milk coloured sap on your skin.
